Manager, Paving Division

A key member of the management team and reporting directly to the President, the Paving Division Manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations, and successfully managing and growing the P&L, of the division and in a manner that supports and enhances the short- and long-term objectives of the organization. This is a senior-level position within the organization and includes both Project Management responsibilities and Functional Operations responsibilities.

Project Management

Primary responsibilities include:

  • sourcing the work, pricing and bidding on the work, securing the work, and providing leadership in the successful delivery of the work;
  • developing, managing, and growing relationships with clients (including technical and contracts departments within the municipalities and the Province), with partners (consulting engineering firms; sub-contractors), and with staff and management; and
  • working with regulatory bodies.

Functional Operations

Primary responsibilities include:

  • managing staff (including new hire and promotion approvals; safety assurance; accident and incident investigation; property and equipment; grievances; downtime; etc.);
  • training and developing staff (including how to estimate and take jobs; identifying high potential employees);
  • providing authorizations (re: estimate reviews; cost reports; safety reports; equipment rentals; etc.); and
  • structuring the Paving Division in a manner that positions it, long term, for securing and delivering on future opportunities.
