Vice President, Strategic Development and Partnerships

This is a senior-level Development position within our client organization, reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with the Capital Campaign Cabinet of the Board. The successful candidate will play a vital role in the achievement of the organization’s mandate and, thereby, help to implement a bold new vision and leave a lasting legacy. As such, s/he is primarily responsible for providing strategic and tactical leadership to the creation and implementation of a comprehensive and multi-faceted development strategy that includes the following elements:

  • Capital campaign
  • Sponsorships, naming rights, events
  • Ongoing individual and corporate donations
  • Memberships
  • Grants

Given the large and aggressive capital requirements of the development plan, the successful candidate is also responsible for the creation and successful launch and execution of a capital campaign consistent with the organization’s spectacular development plan and in keeping with, and in the context of, the plan’s commercial drivers. This includes leading all fundraising and related development initiatives, and leading the timely execution of these with excellence and in accordance with the organization’s plan of engaging all three levels of government, the private sector, foundations, and the public in order to bring the full vision to life. In addition, s/he is expected to provide leadership to currently existing and ongoing fundraising initiatives and events; to contribute to the creation and implementation of development-related policies and guidelines, systems and processes, and the nurturing of positive and productive internal and external relationships; and to grow the development team.
